'Statement of Intent' feedback

Comments on Statement of Intent:

·         There is a good, well thought-out idea here but you perhaps need to consider if it is definitely appropriate for a family audience. You also need to put a few more details at the beginning – title, confirmed TV channel etc. (ITV and C4 are quite different!)

·         Clearly well-planned in terms of trailer structure but you need more in terms of specific shots, sound, mise-en-scene – media language. Be specific: what meanings do you plan to create for the audience?

·         Would a BAME cast help attract a wider audience? Certainly more diverse. This aspect may also link to the channel you select to broadcast it.

·         Try and add some theory to the statement. On that subject, I’m not sure the male/female gaze section works.

·         Culture magazine planning needs a lot more detail – it’s half the coursework! You could use bullet points to keep the word count down.

·         You also need to address digital convergence – it’s in the mark scheme. Will there be ways for your potential audience to interact or discuss the upcoming show?

·         Written English patchy in places and some basic errors to correct e.g. references to film instead of TV.

3 Points I will focus on:

• Include a Title, tagline and broadcaster.
• Plan my culture magazine in depth and write about my ideas in my SoI.
• Be more specific in details such as mise-en-scene in order to gain top marks.
