Paper 2 PPE learner response

1) Feedback:

  • WWW: A very solid exam response with Q3 just superb. If you can reach that level of knowledge, insight and question focus across the exam you will be looking at A/A*.
  • EBI: Revise myth and ideology. Q2 lacked focus...so crucial for top level answers. In Q4, I'm not sure your synoptic elements worked well, with the other CSPs dropped in a little randomly and not fully explained. Instead, apply the question/debate to other industries- in this case, global audiences/distribution.
2) No I didn't achieve my personal target grade, I was a few marks away.

3)
  1. 6/9. I spoke well about the denotation and connotation, but I completely missed the point of answering the myth part of the question which cost me marks.
  2. 16/25. I had a well balanced answer, however, i needed more focus on the Q and needed a better conclusion. I did have points, I didn't evaluate them next time and come to my own clear judgement.
  3. I got 23/25. I did fairly well in this question. I need to make sure that i write like this consistently. I could've added some specific details about industry.
  4. I got 15/25. I had a few issues with this Q. I didn't finish, i had weak and random synoptic links and needed to go in depth with my point. I could add more industry stuff, such as production companies and I could do some in-depth explanation.
4) Question 4:
  • Introduction: Both D83 and Capital producers attempt to target national and global audiences through subject matter and distribution to a certain extent.
  • Capital: BBC state-of-the-nation drama, so tackles issues that are socially and culturally important in the UK. Ensemble cast- reflects tg=he diversity of London life- 80 million people living in London- BAME. E.g. Quentina is a back female who is an immigrant and is to be sent back.
  • Capital: Kudos, in dependent producer of the series, specialises in TV series which can be sold or remade for the US market, making it rather than contemporary media institutions which operate globally rather than nationally.
  • D83: Distributed by Freemantle, a British production snd distribution company , subsidiary of RTL media, a global company which is designed to target an international audience. Co-production of AMC Networks, Sundance TV (US) and RTL Television (German and American), positioning it to exploit the national and global market.
  • D83: Focuses on German- and European- history and politics, which targets a wider and global audience.
  • Conclusion: They both target a global and national audience through subject matter and distributions to a large extent due to their production values and content- this is reflected through the ensemble cats in Capital and in D83 through its content.

5) 5 topics I will prioritise:
  • Capital
  • Deutschland 83
  • Industries (for all CSPs)
  • Videogames
  • Exam techniques (e.g. evaluation, learning terminology, annotate and plan practice Qs and how to embed synoptic links and theory.)
