Pre-productions tasks

Mise-en-scene(CLAMPS)

Interview room:

Characters: The detective (male) and suspect 1/Detective and suspect 2 (female)
·         Costume: Detective- smart plain white shirt (long sleeves) and black trousers- communicate his authority. Subverts stereotypes as he is of BAME background and is in charge.
Suspect 1- wearing a suit, same clothes as book launch. Patterned shirt, blue blazer,                                                                        Black trousers and glasses- suggests how is arrested right after his book launch, has been in interrogation since.
Suspect 2-wearing smart-casual clothing, she is a female.  Wearing a simple jumper.
·         Lighting: Low key lighting, chiaroscuro effect- want to have an element of mystery. Lighting creates a spotlight effect. Interior.
·         Actors: Sitting down on table for interview. They will also be standing up and I will have a low to high angle shot and close ups to show emotion and tension etc.
·         Make up: Detective- no makeup. Suspect 1- bruised eye. Suspect 2- shown to be crying and is anxious as she is blamed so will have the eyes look dark around the edges to amplify the tension.
·         Props: Files and case documents on the table to make it look like an interview room.
·         Setting: Interview room, has black background. Rearranging my living room and using curtains etc.

Carpark (chase scene) :

Characters: The detective and the male suspect.
·         Costume: Detective- smart clothing (on duty), blue jumper and black short sleeve jacket and                                                                   Brown shoes. Communicates how he is on duty and determined to catch one of the suspects.
Suspect 1- cream jumper and black trousers. He is wearing casual trainers. Creates narrative realism.
·         Lighting: Night time, however the car park is indoors so has lights which are just enough so you can see facial expressions and identify the characters.
·         Actors: Both will be running, going to use various shots. Going to use establishing shots to show the isolation of the car park, suggests desperation of needing to get away. Close ups and extreme close ups to show facial expressions etc.
·         Make-up: No makeup.
·         Props: There are no essential props needed for this scene.
·         Setting: Isolated car park to show the suspects desperation to get away from the police.

Stairway

Characters: Suspect 1 and suspect 2.
·         Costume: Suspect 1- wearing plain cream jumper and black trousers, quite casual clothing to create narrative realism.
Suspect 2- wearing a coat, coming from outside to the stairway with phone in her hand. Isn’t expecting what is about to happen.
·         Lighting: high key, to make the audiences not expect what is about to happen.
·         Actors: Both are walking, suspect 1 is climbing the stairs while suspect 2 is entering the stairway.
·         Make up: Suspect 1- has fresh blood on his face.
Suspect 2- neutral make-up to keep it natural.
·         Props: No essential props needed in this scene.
·         Setting: isolated/gritty staircase to heighten tension and create a sense of enigma.

Open-rooftop

Characters: Detective and Head of Police
·         Costume: Both will be wearing smart clothing to show their authority and that they are on duty- sophisticated.
·         Lighting: Low-key lighting, want to create shadows and suspense as this wil be a very short/fast paced clip.
·         Actors: Both quite anxious- creates enigma fir the audiences.
·         Make-up: none is required for this scene.
·         Props: maybe a car?
·         Setting: open rooftop to create enigma, and add to the crime genre feeling creates narrative realism and will be relatable for the audiences as it suggests fear.

Overall

·         The trailer will contain all these clips at different stages, some will be in the first half to build up th tension and the much more exciting scenes such as the chase scene will be in the second half of the trailer to heighten the tension.
·         Variety of shots.
