Film Industry assessment learner response

1) WWW: Good knowledge shown of the industry and the CSP. In Q3, you addresses both sides of the argument in some detail and clearly engage with the media debate.

EBI: 
  • Keep an eye on written English: you almost write yourself out of the second mark in Q1.
  • Q2 needed a little more specific reference to the Chicken CSP.
  • Q3 needs to be a little more sophisticated for A/A*. It's not so much appealing to niche audience shouldn't be made- more a question of how they should be funded.

However, social realist films, such as Chicken shouldn't be made as it can be argued that niche films don't make as much revenue. As Hesmondhalgh discusses, the cultural industries are a 'risky business' and producers have no guarantee of profit. It is unreasonable to make studios to produce small social-realist films that are unlikely to attract a large audience when it is difficult to make money at the best of times. So money should be spent on movies audiences want to see, therefore implying that commerce is more important. 

5)  Q3: FOR SOCIAL REALIST FILMS!

I believe that social realist films are important as they allow younger generations to be inspired and be successful when they are older. Chicken was Joe Stephenson's first feature film and features an outstanding breakout performance from Scott Chambers. It is important that the British film industry offers opportunities for young stars and directors to make their mark in society.

1) Feedback: WWW: A very solid exam response with Q3 just superb. If you can reach that level of knowledge, insight and question focus across the exam you will be looking at A/A*. EBI: Revise myth and ideology. Q2 lacked focus...so crucial for top level answers. Print brief research and planning

1) Magazine cover key conventions I will be using for my print: Masthead At least 5 cover lines Slogan Powerful central image House-style/colour scheme Target audience 2)  I will be using this style of powerful central image and bold masthead. I could use the minimalist aesthetic, such as keeping to nude colours, because it will have many cover lines i don't want it to look crowded.
