Lighting: still image analysis

3) The lighting creates a mysterious atmosphere, this is because half of the lady's face is hidden and half is lit. So she wants to remain unknown.

3) The lighting used only shows her face, this is because they want us to see her facial expression to create a mood or atmosphere. However they have kept her body dark. This indicates to the audience that this movie is quite dark and could be foreshadowing future, dangerous events.

3) It makes the characters seem important, however there is also an element of mystery because we don't actually know who these men are? Are they even men? What are they doing?

3) The photographers want us to see the image- looks realistic. They want us to see her facial expression and actions.

3) The fact that they haven't used under lighting highlights how they want the person to remain unknown. Additionally, they have deliberately used most the light on the knife the man is holding. This shines and would therefore catch the audiences eye, suggesting that the movie genre of horror and thriller. Also, only half of his face is shown- so the movie could be a mystery.

3) They make the actors look more glamourous, it makes them look like they are so in love and it's an intimate moment. Their faces are revealed.
